Flower Pots & Plants

This year is much different than last.Masha Allah.

Now that the little ones are a little older Ab 5 ,Missy 6  and Chunky 3  it has been so fun to teach about Allah’s creation and how beautfiul everything is,especially the new of spring! Alhamdulilah!

I decided to buy a couple packs of marigold seeds for the kids to plant and watch the stages of growth. They have been tracking the days and who has sprouts first and how many days it takes to sprout. It’s so neat to see the excitement in each of them! They are eager to water and make du’a that the plants grow and stay healthy,Alhamdulilah!

Well, we had to first start off by decorating our flower pots! How much fun would it be if we didnt make another craft out of this? We talk and interact so well with each other as they are into their crafts. I really like to teach this way while I can as it seems more fun and less of a chore.

We started off by using small yogurt containers…Another way of recycling and reusing!!!

We made drain holes at the bottom of the container.

These are a few of our flower pots after the kids decorated them. I believe after we were all finished, we had 14 plants!

Each child put their name on a piece of small cardstock and glued it to a popsicle stick to they can easily keep track of their plants.

They used paint, and different applications to decorate their flower pots. Paper with glue was one application as a collage of colors on the flower pot.

Felt was another application they used. This was another simple but rewarding craft we did together. Alhamdulilah.

I cherish each day we have together and love each moment I have to watch my children grow.  I am most Grateful To Allah to have given me such wonderful children and allowed me to be here with them. We all know childhood is temporary and worth all the sacrafices we have made to be with our children and homeschool them. Alhamdulilah!!

Below is our plants in the beginning stages so far.

Sprouts after 5 days!

Another sprout at 5 days!

More sprouts 10 days! Alhamdulilah!

Just about all the pots have new sprouts at 10 days! Allahu Akbar!

15 days starting the secondary leaves!

I found a cute little coloring minibook on plants stages here: Craft Jr If you scroll down to middle of page you will see the images to click for the minibook. I think it’s nice for younger children and perfect to teach the basics.

We will keep you posted as we see progress insha Allah.

Oh what wonderful pots, very creative mashaAllah! We have been planting every year for about 5 years the kids never seem to tire or get bored of it mashaAllah….last year and this year we moved on to growing vegetables in pots, so we get to eat them at the end yum! I pray that Allah ta’ala blesses you, and us all, with many more wonderful years of spring, planting and enjoyable times with our children inshaAllah.
    Fi amanillah,
