We had so much fun with our insect lesson this year. We covered so much and the kids learned so much about all the insects Allah created.

This guy was made from styrofoam egg carton and pipe cleaners! How easy is that?
Our spiders & their web! We made our web from a plastic oatmeal container lid. I took a utility knife and cut out the center of the lid then added slits to the inside to add string to make look like a web.

We painted our egg cartons and added pipecleaner legs and antennae.

What’s Spring without Bees and a bee hive? We couldn’t forget about bees!
Here is our bee we made out of a baby food jar lid! We simply painted it black and glued yellow felt strips on it and glued white felt wings to the back.

We made our hive from newspaper dipped in glue (paper mache’) we used a gallon milk jug as our model to cover with newspaper. we covered it half way,let it dry then wedged it out. We stuffed the top part with crumbled, balled up newspaper to fit our formation we were looking for. Then we covered it with more glued newspaper strips.

I know you are probably saying “this is a summer insect” well that’s at least when we start seeing them here. I just had to add it to our lessons because…you guessed it, My big lug loves Fire flies!

Simple craft!
Construction paper & stryofoam egg carton piece!
Took us no time to make, but put smiles on all my little ones face & the time we spent just talking about fire flies or other known as lightning bugs, We have another craft idea for these guys in the summer, insha Allah.

Time for crafts at your house?
Another Butterfly craft we did!
We made 3 butterfly mobiles to hang in our classrooom. We used construction paper, plastic lanyard or you can also use string to hang yours. we decorated with beads & foam shapes. Fun & simple!

Ladybugs are most kids favorites right? We made our own lady bug crafts that were so much fun!
These little cuties were made out of plastic bottle lids & juice lids!
We added pipe cleaners for legs and antennae. We painted the bottle caps red and added black polka dots

The next of our crafts!
We made a popsicle dragonfly!
We painted the popsicle sticks. used hot glue ( I did this part) for the wings which were used from our same cookie packaging we used for our mosquito craft.
They all turned out so nice, masha Allah
Again, another easy, simple and enjoyable craft to do with the kids.

Craft Time for your family yet?
We had to make a few butterfly crafts this year since we raised butterflies. While the kids waited for their caterpillars to turn into Chrysalides we were busy making our own!
This craft is one to especially do if you are raising butterflies or have raised them insha Allah.
The kids really had a wondreful time watching the changes of their caterpillars into butterflies so I took advantage of the moment and went with it.

Here comes the fun part!
The butteflies in a toilet paper chrysalis! We painted the toilet paper rolls green (same as our painted lady chrysalis) and added some gold beads. we saw some golden specks on the chysalides so we added those to make them more realistic.
Fold your felt butterfly wings in and place it in the toilet paper roll.

The only change we did was using felt instead of paper. My kids wanted to play with the butterflies and I knew if I let them use paper they would be tore up quickly and I would have crying kids in my house. I have avoided that by using felt,masha Allah.
